Happy Valentines Day to our number one – Data Driven Design

There’s no flowers or candy from us this year, but we break down some reasons why we love data-driven design.

Design is interactive.

When Onyx Digital receives a new project or interacts with a first-time client, we get to learn more about their industry, business, and audience. Design fosters connection through these interactions and the different kinds of clients we encounter each and every day.

2. Design software is dynamic.

Cutting-edge design software promotes both productivity and creativity. Programs like Adobe’s XD CC and Dimension CC create endless opportunities for UX designers, product designers, packaging designers, graphic designers, etc..

3. Design can be charitable.

Countless non-profit organizations, foundations, and movements use strong design and imagery to their advantage when promoting messages.

4. Great design (and ultimately inspiration) is all around us!

Whether you find a flyer on the ground in a subway station or see a clever social media post on Instagram, great design can be found everywhere we turn. Likewise, simple things like buildings or even everyday objects can easily be utilized as design inspiration.

5. Design is versatile.

In print design, the fruits of design labor can be seen through packaging labels, menus, posters, whatever the project may be. On the other side of the spectrum, digital “fruits” can be just as engaging. The ability to create tangible or digital work makes design a flexible and diverse medium to create with.

6. Designers are valued.

More than ever before, the design profession is valued. Designers are getting professional and social recognition, as virtually every company needs a member of their team dedicated to branding, digital and print marketing, and website design.

7. Designers bring what’s difficult to articulate into existence.

Of course, copy and alphabetic text is important for a business to be able to convey their messages. However, with design, we can communicate through images and create viewer reactions through imaginative expression.

8. Design is a tool for communication.

According to Clancy Clarke, a writer for Business 2 Community, design is key for a business to announce itself. He writes, “The usefulness of graphic design extends beyond your logo and your website. Graphic design can produce visual aids that will help you communicate your ideas. An informative image can transmit ideas that cannot be expressed with words alone. You can use professionally designed images to create a positive impression and avoid misunderstandings.

9. Design is the common factor among us all.

Whether B2B or B2C, the common denominator for all companies is the need for design. Design is a universal instrument every company must incorporate into their business plan.

10. Design brands us.

Finally, we love design because it is the essence of “branding” itself. We recognize what we like and what we don’t like as consumers through design. Likewise, businesses get to represent themselves in a unique way through logos, advertising, and trademarks. Design determines what we’re drawn to and how we interact with the world around us.
